ABOUT US

Vicharaka is a vibrant, student‑run robotics club at the Indian Institute of Science, born from the vision
of the 2023 undergraduate cohort. Recognizing the need for a dedicated space to nurture deeptech interests,
a group of enthusiastic second‑year students formally established Vicharaka in early 2024. What began as an
informal gathering of robotics enthusiasts quickly evolved into a structured club, complete with its own
laboratory facilities, governance framework, and a clear mission: to empower undergraduates to conceive,
design, and execute cutting‑edge robotics projects.
As the only student organization at IISc boasting a fully equipped robotics lab, Vicharaka provides its members with unparalleled access to tools and resources. Through generous support from IISc itself, as well as industry partners like Robert Bosch and ART PARK, the club maintains a stock of sensors, actuators, fabrication equipment, and computing infrastructure. This combination of institutional backing and corporate sponsorship ensures that every member, regardless of prior experience, can transform an idea on paper into a working prototype.
Central to Vicharaka’s ethos is a culture of collaborative learning. Regular workshops, technical talks, and mentorship sessions bring together seasoned seniors, faculty advisors, and external experts to guide members through the full project lifecycle. Whether it’s mastering ROS (Robot Operating System), exploring machine‑vision algorithms, or diving into embedded firmware development, Vicharaka’s hands‑on approach encourages experimentation, peer‑to‑peer teaching, and iterative improvement.
